Vetting and Security procedure

Dream Education have been given full marks for its policies, practices and procedures with regard to the interviewing, vetting and document checking of its supply teachers before placing them in schools. Dream Education has been awarded the official Quality Mark seal of approval by the Department for Children, Schools and Families for the third time - achieving a 100 per cent score for its selection, vetting, training and development of supply teachers All Dream teachers are subject to the following:

  • Interview: All Dream teachers are interviewed face to face by one of our trained education recruitment specialists.
  • Identity checks: All Dream teachers have their identity fully checked and verified.
  • Health Check: All Dream teachers complete a full health assessment.
  • Department for Children, Schools and Families List 99: All Dream teachers are electronically checked against the Department for Children, Schools and Families, List 99.
  • Criminal Records Bureau: All Dream teachers are subject to an "Enhanced Disclosure" vetting with the CRB.
  • Criminal Checks: All overseas trained teachers must produce a current clear Criminal Check from their home country.
  • Qualification Check: All Dream teachers must produce original or verified copies of all post 18 qualifications including relevant degrees and teaching qualifications.
  • Qualified Teacher status: All Dream teachers must produce evidence of their Qualified Teacher Status. Where they have trained overseas their qualification will be verified for appropriate equivalence with UK NARIC.
  • GTC checks: All teachers with QTS in the UK will be checked against the GTC register for proof of qualification and suitability, and that there are no restrictions against them teaching in UK schools.
  • Right to Work in the UK: All teachers must provide evidence of their valid right to work and residence in the UK. Dream Education is OISC registered which means we can act as the authorised representative for schools and obtain work permits for our teachers. We carry out all of the administrative work involved in the application process for work permits which is at no extra costs for schools.

We also provide advice, guidance and assistance to our teachers on UK visas and their right to work in the UK: highly skilled migrant visas, working holiday visas, dependency visas and ancestral visas. We also advise teachers on work permits and how to obtain entry clearance or further leave to remain.
  • References: All dream teachers are required to have at least two confidential references. The references will remain closed and confidential to Dream. These references must be from an education professional, on school headed paper, written by a person in a senior post to the applicant, and, one of the references must be from the school at which they were last employed. In the case of a newly qualified teacher, one must be from their teacher training college or university. Dream’s policy is that no teacher will be allowed to commence work in any school until all of the above checks are completed. In exceptional cases, where one of the checks cannot be completed the school will be notified in advance. Only where the school agrees will the teacher commence work subject to the arrival of a satisfactory check being forwarded.

Dream Education prides itself on going above and beyond these guidelines in order to ensure that our clients can be 100% assured that Dream teachers have been vetted by the most stringent procedures available.

In the regrettable event of an incident occurring at your school involving an Dream teacher, you can also be assured that we will follow DfES Incident Report guidelines to the letter. We will also provide all relevant documentation within our powers and attend any subsequent meetings or hearings.
